Interpretive Natural Finish (cont.)
|
Royal Flush This large piece is carved from a cedar root. The main elements are a brace of cock pheasants flushing from a marsh environment which is carved around the entire piece. Overlooking this dramatic scene is the king of the marsh the great blue heron. To complete the piece the head of a wise old mother loon is woven into the scene, beneath her are two chicks emerging from the wood. The Pheasants and Heron have custom glass eyes and are subtly highlighted using an airbrush with acrylic iridescent paints. The entire piece is then finished with hand rubbed clear high gloss polyurethane to bring out the flow of the grain and protect the piece from UV damage. The base is walnut shaped to follow the contours of the piece and finished with hand rubbed polyurethane.
